Dec 06, 2019

Metabolism of Cities participated in the Geography Colloquium Series 2019. The Colloquium Series event was held on Friday, December 6th, 2019 in the School of Arts and Letters, Department of Geography at San Diego State University in San Diego, California, USA. Our Metabolism of Cities Co-Founder member Dr. Gabriela Fernandez is also an Adjunct Faculty and researcher in the Department of Geography and the Center for Human Dynamics in the Mobile Age (HDMA) at San Diego State University in San Diego, California, USA. Dr. Fernandez presented the “Metabolism of Cities: Localizing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030: Community Management and Engagement Platform.” The presentation provided an overview of the work developed by Metabolism of Cities using urban metabolism methodologies, resource management education, and social campaigns such as the "Urban Metabolism and Minority Pulse Campaign" developed by Dr. Fernandez and Carol Maione to help cities localize the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The goal is to facilitate an articulated set of tools to support local stakeholders and their networks, under the leadership of local, regional, and national governments. By pointing out the best practices that are reliable and replicate in order to efficiently design, implement, and monitor policies, through data management and engagement.
