Mission:
To collaborate on systematically improving the sustainability of cities, by creating and sharing urban metabolism knowledge and accelerating its implementation in policy and practice
Breakdown of actions
This is done through four specific actions:
Creating knowledge
We aim to create new knowledge by participating and collaborating in research projects and developing new open source tools.
Sharing knowledge
We aim to gather and curate (all) knowledge around urban metabolism in one central platform in order to make it accessible to different target audiences.
Applying knowledge
We help policy makers and practitioners to tackle their challenges with Urban Metabolism thinking.
Fostering a community
We believe that tackling the urban sustainability challenge can not be done alone. We want to foster a community of stakeholders that collaborates on developing solutions.
Values
Our directions and activities result from decision of our members, and are primarily driven by our mission and values.
Openness
We adhere, when possible, to principles of open source, non-restrictive licenses for all work that we produce, and we are transparent about what we do and why we do it.
Diversity
We believe that a variety of experiences, viewpoints and ideas strengthen our work and aim for a highly diverse group of members and collaborators.
Data-driven
We believe that reliable data can help make well-informed decisions.
Community-driven
The direction of our organisation is set by our members and based on feedback from and interaction with our wider community.
Collaboration
We believe in the power of working together and will strive to collaborate with any stakeholder out there to accelerate our endeavours.
